Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas & New Year celebration!

We’re back for 2010’s first kick-back tweetup!

Come early because we’ll have cheap Singha beer on draft for just 80 Baht, and Moddy will donate about 70% of that to charity!

Moddy Second FloorWe’re looking forward to having some REALLY cool freakin’ people from around the world this week, so it should be good. See ya there! :)

December 4th Tweetup this Friday at Lub*D Hostel in Silom

Last month at Lub*D Hostel was such a huge success—the staff was tremendously accommodating, you guys helped us break the bar sales record for the second time, we raised a lot of donations for In Search of Sanuk, and everyone seemed to love the venue—so this week we’re returning again to Silom to have one more party at Lub*D before the New Year.

Come out this Friday night, December 4th, starting at 8pm and going until late-night at Bangkok’s finest hostel, Lub*D.

20% of all your drink purchases will go to In Search of Sanuk to support volunteer and charity projects across Bangkok, and Lub*D’s “yellow donut bar” will again have the 2-beers-for-120 Baht special! (and hopefully those Heineken towers again too!) :)

Lub*D hostel is in Silom area on Decho Road, closest to Chong Nonsi BTS. See the map below.

November Tweetup Wrap-up

On November 6, Bangkok’s Twitterati gave us yet another fabulous meetup. Thanks to all of you, more than 50 or 60 people were in attendance and we raised a total of 4,700 Baht for charity! Special thanks go to Lub D hostel for providing us with a great venue and making a wonderful night possible.

Nutty, Shawn & Maggie

We set the bar sales record for the second time—20% of all drink purchases were contributed to In Search of Sanuk, and we collected donations from individuals throughout the night to support ISOS’s various charity projects around Bangkok. On behalf of In Search of Sanuk, I would like to thank all of you for your generosity.

Probably about 60 or so beautiful faces rolled through to say hello throughout the evening and we raised over 8000 Baht for In Search Of Sanuk charity projects. Thanks everyone!

August Impact & Sept Twestival #lush2

In September your regular tweetup is getting injected with steroids and we’re throwing a huge party on Friday the 11th. So get your thumbs working and help get people excited about Bangkok’s Twestival Celebration.

LUSH-Twestival_smallLast month’s Tweetup featured @simplyshimona harmonizing the night away.

The  tweetup drew about 80 people and together we raised 6,400b, mostly from people’s donations.

cocobeachThe money raised helped make some special moments for underprivileged kids the following week.

The funds you donated helped take kids from the ISOS project teaching in the slum to see the Harlem Globetrotters at Impact Arena (Details and more photos will be posted on insearchofsanuk.com soon). Be proud and see you at Twestival!

June Events Wrap-up: A Taste of Sri Lanka & LUSH Green Night Out

For June, we combined forces with some Couchsurfers to celebrate World Refugee Day 2009 with A Taste of Sri Lanka.

The combined Twitter/Couchsurfing Sri Lankan dinner turned out to be a very successful event. There were about 80 people in attendance to enjoy the authentic Sri Lankan feast prepared by refugees. After all the expenses, we raised about 10,000฿ ($300). You should be proud! Thanks to the Lub D staff who provided a great atmosphere! In Search of Sanuk used the funds from A Taste of Sri Lanka to start an account with the Bangkok Refugee Center to support the medical needs of asylum seeking refugees. Special thanks goes to Hyunsook Sooki Ji who together with her coworkers at ING Life donated over $100 to this cause

On June 19th In Search Of Sanuk worked with Green Networking Days Bangkok to co-host the LUSH party at Frasier Suites.

We want to make Bangkok greener and while doing so provide a service to the urban poor. We raised about 35,000 baht at our LUSH party: Bangkok’s Green Night Out. Now we’re working to connect with communities around the city to offer them a space where they can grow vegetables, spices, and herbs in their neighborhood. Read more here.
